Dave de Breuck is a software and game developer with over a decade of experience, specialising in C++, game engines, graphics programming, and software architecture.

He studies Game Development at Howest (DAE) and obtained his Master’s in Game Technology at BUas after five years of working in the industry. His career took him from game development at Triangle Factory and Sileni Studios to medical software at Nobel Biocare, research at Howest, and graphics programming and software architecture at Twikit.

His passion for hames brought him back to BUas, where he now teaches game programming and Unreal Engine. Outside teaching, he develops custom game engines and independent games, including a first-person shooter and a puzzle game, both planned for Steam.

What will this talk be about?

Video games are more than just pretty pictures. Behind every movement, interaction, and explosion lies a complex world of mathematics, physics, and programming.

In this talk, you’ll take a look behind the scenes of game development and discover how a game is essentially a massive mathematical problem that needs to be solved 60 times every second.

You’ll explore the invisible technology that brings virtual worlds to life and why making games is as much about engineering as it is about creativity.
