ACADEMY WORKSHOP: ART PILLARS FOR YOUR PROJECT BY RASMUS POULSEN
Want to go beyond the talks and panels? This workshop brings the hands-on learning experience of Playgrounds Academy straight to Breda and giving you the chance to work directly alongside some of the most talented artists and developers in the games industry.
When developing a visual universe, it’s easy to get lost in a sea of good ideas. This workshop teaches you how to choose, develop and evaluate the artistic pillars that form the foundation of your project and more importantly, how to strengthen them against each other to build a holistic visual identity that makes your work both meaningful and recognisable.
Rasmus will walk you through the model he has developed for this purpose, explore a series of case studies and then discuss participants’ own projects and challenges as a group, using the model as a shared framework.
✏️ You’ll work on your own, and each other’s, projects through discussions, notes and sketches.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll know how to navigate complex creative ideas, simplify them and ensure they’re appropriate for your project and what you want to say with it.
This workshop is open to anyone working in games, animation, illustration or any creative field involving world building and visual development. Experience or an interest in world building and/or art direction is a plus.
- Tools for note taking and sketching:physical or digital
- Before the workshop: please upload images from the project you’re currently working on so Rasmus can look them through in advance. (Details on how to submit will be shared after registration.)
